White Album 2 great

There is another title with the same name as the WA2, that is White Album (WA). However these two are nothing alike. Storyline develops independently although the basic setting remains unchanged. Similarities are in a few, besides the world characters live in. Having seen both, including the second season of WA, I can sincerely claim that watching WA2 doesn’t require seeing neither of them.

Instead of university students involved in music industry, WA2 is about high school students who actually attend to classes as well as club activities. Distinction in school-genre makes major difference in terms of slice of life. Story isn’t anything unheard of but it does a really good job keeping music in the center, yet leaving enough room for storytelling.

When WA used inner voices to describe characters feelings, WA2 did better by solid dialogue which improved the expression of characters greatly. This resulted in a more immersive drama, while maintaining a realistic touch of everyday life. WA2 improved quite a bit, thanks to the work with original WA.

What struck me the most was music worth listening with headphones. Especially the self-titled, legacy of WA series, song White Album. Alongside with enhanced art-style and manuscript the song alone makes WA2 a must-watch.

This series made me wonder how much music changes in a decade. I was deeply moved that there are still people playing songs that were once loved. Especially pop-idols are forgotten easily but memory of them can be brought to present by a single group of friends - even if just for a day.

I recommend watching and listening this series and paying close attention while doing so. When it comes down to dividing anime into genres this is favorite of mine as far as music is concerned. Merging tastes of school idols and light music clubs, WA2 serves as a reference to everyone that is willing to widen their libraries variety. Immerse yourself in the world of White Album 2.
