Community Rules

Kitsu's general guidelines still apply here, but the following guidelines are specific to this group:

Request Guidelines

  1. Please be patient with us. All of us database mods are doing this in our free time and Kitsu does occasionally run into roadblocks, so sometimes fulfilling requests may be a bit slow.
  2. ONLY ONE ANIME/ MANGA PER REQUEST.
  3. If a mod denies a request, feel free to ask for an explanation, but do not try to turn it into an argument. If you really think you have a case to argue, please ask that mod to ask the other mods. The consensus reached by the mod team is final.
  4. When making a request, please provide as many links to the information as you can. If you do not provide a link to any information, your request will be of lower priority.
  5. When making a request, please try your best to make sure the page does not already exist under a different name.
  6. If you are requesting a poster or cover image change, please provide the image you would like uploaded. If a crop is necessary, we appreciate if you provide the crop yourself along with the original image. Otherwise, we will crop it to our own discretion.
  7. Dimensions for covers are approximately 1920x400 px.
  8. Due to a bug, all of our dates are off by one day. Please do not make requests asking for us to fix this. A proper fix is coming in the future.
  9. When a request is fulfilled, the corresponding mod will reply to your post to confirm that it has been done.
  10. When a mod fulfills a request, please double check to make sure there have not been any mistakes in terms of the information added. If there is a mistake, please reply to the confirmation post explaining the mistake.
  11. If you do not reply after a request is made, we will assume the changes/ additions are okay as they are.

Tag Guidelines (Formerly "Genres")

Here on Kitsu, we use tags instead of genres. This will allow us to be more more specific than genres do as more tags are added. However, some of the tags double as genres. Those primarily follow MyAnimeList’s rules for found [here] (https://myanimelist.net/info.php?go=genre "MAL Genre Definitions"). There are, however, some things to note:

  1. We have an Anime Influenced tag, so we do add some Western cartoons to the database. If you would like a show added to the database with this tag, we ask that you provide solid evidence that anime was a major influence in the work (such as an interview with the creators).
  2. Please do not try to bring arguments about whether or not Western cartoons belong here. Such posts will be deleted.
  3. Yuri/ Shoujo Ai are not the same thing. This goes for Yaoi and Shounen Ai as well. Yuri and Yaoi focus on the sexual relationship between characters. This implies hentai. Shoujo/ Shounen Ai have a central focus on the larger relationship between characters, usually romantic. Sex may be involved in Shoujo/ Shounen Ai, but it is not the central focus of the work.
  4. Dementia is a tricky genre. Usually it means that the story is focused on characters dealing with very abstract and difficult ideas. It can also mean the piece uses very abstract animation (i.e. Mirai Mizue shorts). Sometimes it is just given to things that do not fit any of the other genres very well. A larger definition can be found here. If you have questions about something having the Dementia tag, please confer with a mod.
  5. “Manhua” is with a “U” is Chinese. “Manhwa” with a “W” is Korean.
