When I was growing up, I didn’t know many people in high school who knew what anime was, let alone watched it. Luckily, I found a few people who liked anime and got a few people interested in it (I got one friend hooked with Steins;Gate). But before then, I was a lonely motherfucker. Of course, I never saw myself as lonely—everyone at school was either an idiot or an asshole. Why would I want to interact with those kinds of people? When I got home, I watched anime. That was it.
