    Baccano! good

Having just completed Baccano! and the additional OVA episodes that come with the DVD, I can tell you that Baccano! is no ordinary anime. For that matter, it's no ordinary story. At least, it's not told in an ordinary way.

What we have here is a tale of violence, suspense, intrigue and mystery, sprinkled with a little bit of romance and comedy, all mixed in with a sizable portion of the supernatural. Throughout this tale we follow the stories of somewhere in the …

    Durarara!! meh

Durarara!! What does it mean? Nothing.

My brother asked me the other day what the general idea of Durarara!! is. I ended up giving him a whole plot summary because I couldn't really think of a good way to condense it and still give him an idea of what it was about. But, if I really had to sum it up, it'd probably go something like this:

Durarara!! is an anime that tells the tale of a large group of vaguely connected individuals, all with their own sub-plots, …

    Suisei no Gargantia good

Gargantia. I just finished it. I am not feeling the way I expected to feel.

Suisei no Gargantia (I have taken to calling it by it's Japanese title - rolls better off the tongue in my opinion), has heart. After I watched the first three episodes in one sitting, I felt like I was in for something good.

We follow the story of Ensign Ledo, a young soldier serving the Galactic Alliance of Humanity. For some time now, longer than anyone can remember, humanity has been at war …

Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! meh

WataMote (I'm not writing the whole thing - ironically it probably would have taken up less word-space than this though) is...different. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure I guess? It's a little hard to quantify what it means to me.

Be aware that this review contains vague potential spoilers. No specific events are discussed, but I feel it is necessary to touch on what I do in this review in order to get my point across about the show.

    This 12-episode series is …

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. good

Another one of those shows with a name too long to bother writing, SNAFU, as I have taken to calling it, is a romantic comedy but...not? To me, it is a character piece that explores the social aspects of high school from two-to-three different perspectives, each perspective being that of one of the main characters of SNAFU.

The story is told from the perspective of Hikigaya Hachiman, a self-imposed loner who steadfastly refuses to have any kind of interaction with other …

Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei The Animation meh

As a writer, one thing I really don't like to see is a good idea fail to meet its potential, or go to waste. Danganronpa, yet another series with a huge name that I'm not willing to type out, neatly slots into the "misused potential" category of narrative.

A murder-mystery death-game pitting 15 elite high school students trapped inside a large, prominent academy, against one another in a battle of wits and deception? Sounds pretty good to me (and that's why I watched it).

    Attack on Titan good

First of all, this is a review of season 1. I'm pretty certain that there will be a season 2 eventually, based on how popular this series is. Okay, let's get on with this!

Attack on Titan is a juggernaut of intrigue, suspense, and pure, unadulterated action. I'm not sure there's a better way to describe it.

You hear about these kinds of shows. We've seen them before. They get so hyped up, that not watching them is absolutely out of the question. It's popular, it's epic, …

    Psycho-Pass good

Psycho-Pass. A world (or really, a country; Japan) where humans live generally peaceful lives under the watchful eye of the Sibyl System. A world where, just by pointing a special gun or camera at you, your entire mental state, and the likelihood of you committing a crime, can be assessed on the spot. If you're judged to be a criminal, say goodnight.

In this perhaps utopian world, Inspectors and Enforcers carry Dominators; the special guns I mentioned earlier. It is …

    Steins;Gate great

I generally try to be mostly objective in my reviews. Steins;Gate will be no exception, but if you've heard anything about the show (and, unless you have little-to-no knowledge of the anime world - in which case I'm inclined to ask why you'd be here - you probably have heard about it) I'm guessing you've heard that it's great. Awesome. Spectacular. The best, even.

Well, I don't believe anything can be the best, but it can certainly be close. Steins;Gate is one such …

    Love Lab good

Love Lab was and is a very nice show. It's not the kind of show I ever envisioned myself watching when I first got into anime, but I'm glad I decided to broaden my horizons and try something different.

That sounded a lot like a conclusion, but I can assure you it's the intro. I know what I'm doing here.

Love Lab is a slice of life comedy about a group of middle-school girls who are fascinated with romance. In their efforts to prepare themselves for love, they establish a …
